Seaside experiences that will get you moving –

active holidays in Flensburg

It’s not always easy to stay fit on holiday. You find yourself eating your third ice cream of the day, or being tempted by another small piece of cake. You’re on holiday to enjoy yourself. And quite rightly so.

But do you feel the need for some action as well as relaxation on holiday?
Don’t worry, Flensburg has plenty of ideas to keep you busy. There are many recreational activities for adults and families in and around the city to keep you on your toes – water sports, cycling and golf to name just a few. Long walks are also perfect, and with all that healthy sea air too. One thing is certain – your holiday by the water will never be boring. Enjoy your days off and make the most of the wide range of leisure activities in Flensburg!

Sailing and water sports on the fjord

The four-star Sonwik Marina, located in Sonwik itself, is a treat for any sailor. From here you can take a trip to the nearby islands – the Ochseninseln – or discover the beauty of the Danish Baltic. Of course, water sports are generally a very important feature in a harbour city: nearby Holnis is a popular hotspot for surfers, while the shallow beaches along the fjord also offer a safe bathing experience for kids who can’t get enough of the water.

Golf on the border

If you want to take it a little easier, you can knock a few balls around on the nearby golf courses. There are seven golf courses within an hour’s drive. The nearest course is only about 20 minutes away in Glücksburg.

The Benniksgaard Golf Course just beyond the Danish border is particularly beautiful. Players will be rewarded with a magnificent view of the Flensburg Fjord, as well as excellent playing conditions. Naturally, the clubs also offer introductory courses for complete novices.
